SPS 2001 vs SPS 2003

what's the difference between 2001 and 2003 in terms
of document management features?

I would say the major difference is being able to index into MS SQL rather
that some crappy exchange server :)

is sps  v1 = sps 2001  and sps v2 = sps 2003? or is sps
v2 = sps 2001 with sp2a?

sps v1 is sps  2001 and sps v2 is SPS 2003.
