SPS 2001 and SP3

Asked By: Ganesh    Date: Jan 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 539

I recently had to restore production data to our test server from a backup file
using MSDMBack. I was able to restore a folder with files that had accidentally
been deleted by a user. The test and production servers are running SPS 2001
with SP1.

After the restore was completed I noticed there was a problem doing searches on
the test server. I checked the event log and am finding this error message that
appears for each workspace, "The Indexer failed to update or access information
because of a database error. Stop and restart the Search service. If errors
continue, reset the catalog and rebuild. In some cases, it may be necessary to
delete and recreate the catalog.".

I had planned on applying SP3 to this test server. Should I hold off on applying
SP3 until this database problem is resolved? Also, does anyone have a good
resource for how to reset a catalog or rebuild it? I have rebooted this test
server a number of times and that does not fix the error.
