SPS 2001 Problem using Windows Explorer Interface

Asked By: Trenton Hubbard         Date: Mar 22, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 531

I administer a server that is running SPS 2001 with SP1. Last week end a number
of service bulletins were applied to this server. On Monday, a user notified me
that she was getting an error message when trying to edit a document profile
using the Windows Explorer interface. This is the error, "the tahoe server
encountered the following error loading the document profile: createobject
(cdo.knowledgefolder), error number: 800703E6". The server is running Windows
2000 Server. The user has coordinator privileges. The server was rebooted but
the problem still exists.

I did some testing in a workspace on this server and got the same error when
trying to edit the document profile or check in a document using the Windows
Explorer interface.
If the document is loaded and checked in using the web interface no error is
produced.

I want to blame the service bulletin updates since no other changes have taken
place on this server. Has anyone else encountered this problem, know of a
possible solution or have a suggestion where to start looking for a resolution?

I had a similar problem  a few months back and restarting the services cured it.
