SPS 2001 Document versioning

I have a sharepoint 2001 site with live documents on it using
versioning. I would like to import them into a new SPS2003 site
document library. How can this be done and retain the versioning? When
I clock add to add document in 2003 and browse to the document structure
in 2001, file is imported, but I seem to lose all previous versions.
