Can SPS 2 accept a file that is more 50 MB ?

Asked By: Sheldon    Date: Nov 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 651

I was trying to upload a file with the size 99.9MB to SPS 1.0
document library and the below page was not able to be displayed
"../../Portal/resources/HandleUploadedFile.asp" and when I hit
on the return button and it threw this error message "An error
occurred while processing your request. Please contact your system
administrator for this server. "

Just wonder, whether SPS 2.0 allows the user to upload a document
with the size of 50 MB or more?

The limit for SP 1.0 is about 55 MB. As for SPS 2.0, I don't
know that answer.

In SPS v2, you can administratively set a limit > 50MB but as has been
discussed on this group as well as
microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver, success varies greatly on
actually being able to guarantee management or manipulation of files >

To set it, do this:
- navigate to main site
- Site Settings
- Sharepoint Central Administration
- Configure Virtual server  Settings
- [pick your site if listed]
- Virtual Server General Settings
- Edit the Maximum Upload size

I have set the "Maximum upload  Size" to 400MB then I
upload a file  with the size  of 61MB and it goes through

But when I upload a file with the size 70.2 MB, it throw
the error  message "Server Error in '/' Application"

Do you face the same problem like me?

Yes, everyone has the same problems. As I described, many have reported
multiple problems with uploading files of significant size, both v1 and
v2. There's no solid magic number where it fails.
