SPPS: Duplicate Display Names causing Recent Docs and Search problem

We have some users with exactly the same display names in AD. This
causes the same documents to display in the Recent Docs of their
public MySites. It also means that if I want to use portal search to
find all documents by a user, I get the same set of results for both
users.

Is it possible to search for documents by Login Name, email or GUID?
I haven't seen this as an option, only
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office#Author" which uses display name.

Any other ideas, short of giving the users fake middle initials?

So am I the only one seeing this issue? I find that hard you believe.

Can someone at least confirm that they see it as well? Just make two
users have the same display  name in the portal  profile and look at the
recent docs  on their MySites.
