SPP Top Dashboard Extremely Slow Loading

Asked By: Brianne    Date: Nov 12    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1172

Our top level dashboard is extremely slow loading. I think it is because there
is too many web parts that have to process. We have three different Announcement
Web Parts; three different news web parts; an Event Web Part; MS Weather; Check
out to you Web Part; Subscription Summary;Web Links;Quick Links;Search; and
Date. The Announcement wqeb parts have no limit set and one of them has 18

If we go to any other subdashboard directly for example
http://servername/workspace/categories/ it comes right up.

Any ideas?

You might want to use dasbhoard definition caching and cache some web  parts.
Also do not use web parts  suchs as subscription  summary and those web parts
that query individual user data. You can find out how to use dashboard
definition cahcing by referring to the Performance Whitepaper for

If you are talking about the HOME dashboard, then my only recommendation
is to not have any web  parts there. In several of my scenarios, I have a
graphic or an image of the project or program that this portal is for. I
then populated all the needed web parts  in the subsequent dashboards.

Increase the Cache Timeout to maximum

Thanks for the suggestion but it is not an option. The portal is being used as
the organization official document management server and the top  people in
charge dictate what they want to see on the Home Dashboard.
