SPD and the firewall

We have a company firewall-router that manages traffic to our internal network.
I am having troubles using SPD to edit pages on our externally hosted sharepoint
site. I can connect okay, and can browse the pages fine, but I can't seem to
save any changes. We added webdav as an "application" that will pass the
firewall, as well as the host provider's urls, but I am still hung up. What
else do I need to add to the whitelist policy?

What version of SharePoint and SPD? Different versions use different
protocols, but in general you'll want WebDAV, FP-RPC, and Web Services
to all be available.

Well, I am using 2007 with both applications. I didn't have any issue
before the firewall-router was installed. The firewall-router is blocking
something.

Well, it seems that I can create and edit aspx pages that I create, but
something is prevenging me from being able to edit any master pages. The Host
says that there should be no problem. When I try to save a master page (even if
it isn't the default), it times out, throwing this error:

"Could not find a Web server at 'portal.sspxusa.org' on port 80. Please check to
make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set
correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be
temporarily out of service."

I can't figure out what to add to the firewall whitelist to allow SPD to work
properly.
