SP2010 Claims based auth

Asked By: Darlene    Date: Jan 30    Category: Sharepoint 2010    Views: 1778

Our organization would like to use claims based auth in SP2010 to allow
collaboration with external users. I would have assumed there would be
Windows Live ID integration built in or at least documentation readily
available for how to configure, however neither seems to be the case.

Could someone provide instructions for configuring SP2010 to work with
claims based Live ID or a similar SAML based provider?

Live Id (passport) is no longer supported in Windows 2008 R2, Ms recommends
using ADFS 2.0

LiveID support is available using Claims Authentication and there should be
documentation available from Microsoft soon on how to configure  it. You'll
want to wait for the documentation.

Any idea what "soon" is and where I should be watching for
it to find it when it's released?

I expect it will be on Technet when its published, but I don't know when.

This may be easier to buy and implement:

As far as the shetabtech app goes, we're thinking of using it but would
prefer a single url which can be accomplished in SP2010 with claims.
However, if the config doc doesn't come out relatively soon we may
use shetabtech's app.
