Asked By: Abhilasha    Date: May 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 652

If your SP1 Upgrade fails: Have no fear:

> Disconnect from the farm

Stop Web Publishing Service

Stop Farm Database

psconfig -cmd configdb -disconnect

>Create a new farm and empty web application

psconfiggui (SharePoint configuration utility) -> New Farm

Create a new Web Application http://contentmigrate:port

stsadm -o deletecontentdb -url http://contentmigrate:port -databasename
WSS_Content

>Upgrade old content databases to SP1 and test

stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://contentmigrate:port -databasename
PRE_SP1_CONTENT_DB

http://contentmigrate:port/PATH/SiteColl

stsadm -o deletecontentdb -url http://contentmigrate:port -databasename
PRE_SP1_CONTENT_DB

>Upgrade Central Admin database to SP1

stsadm -o deletecontentdb -url http://config:port -databasename
Admin_Content_xyz_POST_SP1_CONFIG_DB

stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://config:port -databasename
Admin_Content_abc_PRE_SP1_CONFIG_DB

stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://config:port -databasename
Admin_Content_xyz_POST_SP1_CONFIG_DB

>Don't ask me why but now you can connect and upgrade the new farm
config db (that for me otherwise would fail)

psconfiggui (SharePoint configuration utility) ->

Disconnect from old farm

Connect to new farm

Test Old URL

Maybe My configuration was more hosed than all ya'lls but even after a
complete uninstall of SharePoint and Project Server I've got my whole
farm back now. (It is using a shared service provider from another farm
BTW)
