SP1 client components

Asked By: Haresh    Date: Jan 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 908

when I was doing a new
install of a server + SP1 for a restore that the SP1 Launch utility has an
upgrade for the client components. Sheesh! I can't believe I missed that
part before.

All I see in the readme pertaining to the client is Windows XP stuff. We
don't run Windows XP, but I do have the client components installed on most
of our machines. How important is it that I install the SP1 for the client
components for those already deployed? We use Office XP, btw.

Also, I didn't find anything about how to apply SP1 to the original set of
client install files (a la .msp files when you do Office, Visio, etc).
Anyone heard anything about having just one install set, or would it follow
that installing from SP1 would either a) install the correct files or b)
upgrade if you have installed already?

I'll test but I thought I'd ask around first.

It is my basic understanding that once you upgrade the SPS to SP1 you should
upgrade the clients also. However, I did not convert all of my clients to
SP1 and I have not noticed any problems.
