sp timer service

I tracked down a Sharepoint timer service failure to error 193:Oxc1 and
searched MKB in vain.

The Sharepoint timer service cannot be started on the local machine.

I guess it's not critical but it seems like an email attachment enabled doc
library would be a pretty handy feature to have, especially for people on
the road. I've also done some reading about Infopath and emailing invoices
to sp and then rolling them up into a backend DB. Currently, Infopath is
just collecting dust, which to me seems a bit sad. Since we use Quickbooks,
(which is not exactly Microsoft friendly), I was hoping to build a simpler
front end application with infopath or VS and then batch the End of Month
invoices from Sharepoint to the accounting app but the gods seem bent
against it.

Has anyone dealt with similar issues? Could Norton Corporate Antivirus be
the culprit?
