SP recognize files as PDF, PSD, AI

Asked By: Helen Ramsey         Date: Oct 04, 2008      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 688

We are using our SharePoint site for graphic source files and document source
files. I am currently the site collection administrator. How do I make
SharePoint recognize PDF, PSD, and AI files as document types...and show their
image logo? This is a real issue when, for example, we upload our adobe
illustrator (AI) files and they default to pdf. When someone downloads the file
to use it...it saves it as a pdf...we then have to rename it.

Any ideas?

Setting up an icon for pdf  is included as part of the instructions at
workerthread.wordpress.com/.../configure-pdf-ifilter-in-ws
s-30/ - the same steps can be used for other file types.
