SP 2003 and Office 2003

I am trying to edit an Office word document that's in SharePoint 2003
with Word 2003. I'm in IE at a shared document and I select the
dropdown arrow to select (edit in Microsoft Office Word) but I receive
is error message:

'Edit Document" requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible
application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater.

I receive this message on all Office documents; I using Win XP, Office
2003 and the latest IE. How do I fix this problem?
