Slow reports in reporting services integrated mode

Asked By: Harshini    Date: Jun 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2863

We are using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services integrated into
SharePoint for all our reporting. I have noticed sometimes the
W3WP.exe of the resporting services starts hogging memory and the
application becomes really slow and report users start complaining.
It is taking at least 8 seconds to see the green report generation
wheel spin.
We have a SharePoint farm with:
· 1 web front end in the transaction zone , outside a
firewall

· 1 custom server running reporting services integrated mode

· 1 application server running central admin and indexing

· I SQL cluster for the database

We have Windows Servers 2003 SP2, total of 4 GB RAM. We are using a
64 bit OS for SharePoint servers

The reporting server CPU is an 8-way 3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium III also
with 4 GB RAM, 64 bit OS

We have 5 worker processes running for the reporting services
application

Network Trace

This trace analysis was performed by Microsoft,

"From the trace I noticed that when SPS03 talks to the SPS04 server
then there we see a delay for 7 seconds. During these 7 seconds we
see that the SPS03 Server talk to the SQL and then after 7 seconds
we see that the SPS03 talks back with SPS04.
