My Sites issue

Asked By: Denny    Date: Sep 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 519

I am having an issue with everyone that has created a My Site. They cannot
access their shared document, private documents, shared pictures, Lists,
Discussions etc. They can create a new list, discussion etc. but as soon as it
is created they are directed to an "Access Denied" error page. Since I had
created the SSP that hosts the My Sites, our network people changed the password
on the admin account that was used to set up the SSP. Could this have anything
to do with my issue? Also, how do I recover from this? I had asked earlier about
simply deleting the SSP but now I don't think this is an option. I have tried
resetting permissions, deleting and recreating a My Site, etc. with no success.

First, see if you can locate all the services that are running with the
admin account  that had the password changed.

Then change the password for those services within Central
Administration.

Let us know the results.

If the administrative account  you used is also the service account
used by SharePoint to access  the databases, this might be a possible
cause. If not, that change shouldn't be relevant. You might want to
check (or have one of your admins check) the service account
passwords.

I should have mentioned in my first post: I did have to go through the services
on the server and change to another account  on all of the services that were
originally running under the admin  account that was changed. I was wondering if
this would have caused a problem somewhere?

Two questions:

Did you make these changes in Central Administration?

Does the new account  have all the rights and permissions  of the original
account?

I made the changes in both Central admin  and the Services on the server.
The old account  was a Domain Administrator and I believe the new account was set
up only to admin the sharepoint server.
