site rights

Asked By: Diamond    Date: Jan 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 778

I'm just wondering if there's any more granularity with security in
sites. The rights available are good but beyond the default site groups
(reader, contributor and admin) I can't see a huge benefit of applying
the current rights to create custom groups. What I want to do is
something like create my own rights as well. For example, I would like
to have a role where they can create as many lists as they want but not
create custom lists. Is this possible with the security model in V2 (or
through some programming) to be able to have the level that I want?

You're correct in that it is more of a "more finely grained custom  rights"
issue and but I don't believe there a way to do what you want looking at it
from this perspective.

Another hunch (perhaps someone can take it to the next step), would be to
register an event and in that event it, "somewhat after the fact",
prevents/undoes/removes/hides attempts to create  custom lists  based on a
custom group membership.
