Site Creation Error

Asked By: Jered    Date: Aug 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1362

When I am trying to create a subsite in one site, I am getting the following error.

A site template has already been applied to this site. Once a template has been applied, the site must be deleted and recreation in order to apply a different template.

How to solve the problem??

I fixed the problem.

Previous I am not able to create  portal also. When I had seen the error
log it is saying that Sql Server with SP3 or later is needed. Last week
we reinstalled Sql database server. At that time we haven't install SP3
:-)

You’re trying to create  a new site  with the same name as an existing site. You’ll need to delete the existing site before creating the new site. The “recreation” word is a typo.

There is no existing site  with the same name.

How about a document or meeting workspace with the same name? ...underneath they are all SP sites.

One thing to check that its deffinately deleted  is to log on to your
Sharepoint server - open IIS - navigate to the Default Web Site (if
you are using the default Virtual Server) expand _layouts then
highlight 1033 and in the right hand window you will see all the aspx
pages scroll down to vsubwebs.aspx and see if its listed if it is
click manage and then delete it.
