Site Collection Admins / AD groups

Asked By: Yasasvi Wali         Date: May 17, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 412

Is it possible to add an AD group as a site collection admin, if so how?

We are currently trying but when you type in the domain\ADGroup
SharePoint does not seem to be able to locate the group. We can add the
group to other locations just no luck adding it as a Site Collection
Administrator

There is a way to add  more than two site  collection administrators, but to the
best of my knowledge no way to add an AD group  as a site collection  admin.
Follow the steps in this blog to add more than two.

but I did know how to add  more than two
people, just was trying to add an AD group  because people come and go
so often that it would be easier to just add and remove from a AD
group then to hit all the site  that the users are site collection
admins of on a regular basis.

Sorry, but as I said. I don't think there is a way to add  an AD group  to the
Site Collection Administrators. You can add more than two individuals, but not
an actual group.
