Single SharePoint server problem with login

We have brought up a SharePoint server. The administrator who I think is
the owner needs to login whenever he goes to the site, but the
contributor/readers do not. We want to make everyone login and thought this
was standard. We are being authenticated to the Active Directory of our
Exchange Server. Are there any defaults that we should change?

Sounds like your readers/contributors have their browsers are set up to
allow authentication using their current username and password.
