Using Silverlight with SharePoint

Asked By: Ravi    Date: Sep 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3139

Has anyone used Silverlight with SharePoint? What are some of the main
advantages of using it to talk to a SQL database? Will it replace web parts?

I personally haven't. I have seen quite a few demo's at our local SharePoint
and .Net user groups.

Silverlight itself is not a web  part, it is a way to present data to the user in
an easier to read format.

That being said their is no advantage in using it to talk  to your SQL database,
it doesn't save any resources.

A couple of good tutorials:

We are using Silverlight for a few things here, and like it.

I'll look it over. I think there must be programmers out there using
Silverlight with SharePoint, no?

Check out the Wrok book "SharePoint 2007 Development Using Microsoft Silverlight
2" by Steve Fox and Paul Stubbs. I'm reading it now. It might give you some
ideas.
