sharepoint\system account showing up in Site Usage Reports

Asked By: Dianna Bridges         Date: Nov 19, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 179

I was wondering if anyone has any insight about the sharepoint\system
account and it's role in generating requests against a SharePoint site.

We are trying to pull usage metrics from the Site Usage Reports in SharePoint
and we keep finding that the "sharepoint\system" account is generating a great
deal of requests.

Does anyone know exactly why the sharepoint\system generates so many requests on
a site (i.e. backup ops, doubling regular users in site interactions, etc.)?

Additionally, if trying to determine user requests on a site, should the
sharepoint\system account be excluded from total number of requests?
