sharepointdiscussions : Message: <Database>\query contains user-defined schema. Databases must

Could anyone offer some assistance with my server farm configuration?
I am trying to start the "Windows SharePoint Services Search", I enter
my credentials, and receive the following error:

"<DatabaseNameHasBeenChangedByPoster> on
np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE\sql\query contains user-defined
schema. Databases must be empty before they can be used. Delete all
of the tables, stored procedures and other objects or use a different
database."

This is on a virtual machine.

I have found the database is at the location
C:\Windows\SYSMSI\SSEE\MSSQL.2005\MSSQL\Data\<DatabaseNameHasBeenChangedByPoster\
.mdf>
-- it is approx 28 MB in size (don't know if that would mean
anything), and I cannot open the file (doing a google search indicates
the .mdf file is of type SQL Server Master Database, which I do not
have installed on the virtual machine) to delete whatever content
might be in it.

I have tried renaming the file and recreating the database through the
SharePoint Central Administrator (seeing if going through the server
farm configuration steps would perhaps recreate an empty database
file), but that did not work (received "Uknown Error" when trying to
start the above mentioned service). I renamed the database to its
original name, restarted the iis, but continued to receive "Unknown
Error". A reboot of the virtual machine returned me to the error
message about "Database must be empty" (which I'd say is better than
'Unknown Error')
