Sharepoint WSS / SPS implementation queries

Asked By: Cary    Date: Nov 15    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1246

We have got to implement the following functionalities in Windows
Sharepoint Services 2.0(preferable) and/or Windows Sharepoint Portal
Server 2003.

I need to know what is the complexity invloved in each of these. If
customization/coding is needed then what would be the complexity /
time frame in which this can be accomplished, or any third party
products are available for the same (licensing/cost pointers will be
huighly beneficial)

Following are the requirements

1. Listing of Links in Web part should be Dynamic. That is ,it should
get updated with new links or links deleted as and when some action
happens

2. Folder Level Security Required for the Document Libraries

3. Alerts to be attached with the Documents in the Document Library
and appropriate alerts to be sent to the users as and when the
document is updated

4. Pictures(.tiff,.jpg,.bmp),movies(.avi,.mpeg,.mov) and any other
file type should be supported for the collaboration.Document format
is unspecified.

5. Collaboration should be platform independent.(Apple and Linux
users present). Ability to upload docs from linux servers etc (using
linux clients)

6. If a parent site is configurred as secure, then are child sites
created within the parent also secure by default. If not
what needs to be done

7. Viewing the document in the site should not be dependent on the
client's software installables i.e the Application/mime type is not
required to invoke the appropriate s/w to open a document\.Example :
A word document should open in the browser without intervention of
the word engine to show the document

8. A workflow for approval will be required to be attached to the
documents to get approved.Multilevel workflow required

I believe that Microsoft has a solution for your second concern
(Folder Level Security Required for the Document Libraries).

The solution is to provision your environment with Rights Management
Services (RMS) or Information Rights Management (IRM) that is
available only for Office 2003 users.

I suggest you to google on the terms for more information.
