Sharepoint v3 pre-upgrade scan tool

I can't seem to find this tool download on Microsoft Website or
anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know a direct link to download
the tool? It is required for an in-place upgrade.

I have read through the manuals.

Actually I found this page on technet:

It directs you to go to the Microsoft download Center but then can't
locate the download for the pre-upgrade scan tool. It doesn't seem to
be there?

Couldn’t find it myself BUT

Note:

You can also get the tool by installing the new version to a test computer. After you install search for the file prescan.exe, and then run the tool against the computer that runs the existing version.

On the server you have MOSS 2007 installed, copy PRESCAN.EXE and
PREUPGRADESCANCONFIG.XML from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN to some folder on your SPS 2003
server. I've done that successfully several times now.

Also, a bit of advice: If you get errors on the prescan, you will more
than likely have to get the hotfix that is described in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918744.
