SharePoint Unit testing

Asked By: Joseph    Date: Apr 19    Category: MOSS    Views: 639

Does anyone have any automated unit testing software/methodology that they
use for unit testing custom MOSS code? Particularly web parts, event handlers,
workflows, and custom App pages? So far we have been using a myriad of manual
methods. These include heavy logging, screen shots, event logs, etc. This
however is manual, error prone, time consuming, and in the end not a great
repeatable and reliable methdology to providing well documented unit testing

So far about the only thing i have found around MOSS code testing in these
terms was the TypeMock product
sp&utm_campaign=sp_bb) which I saw links to through MSDN throught the patterns
and practices guides. I would like to find a larger pool than 1 product to
evaluate though. I have asked a few friends at MCS who came back with the
original link to patterns and practices but in the end also told me most times
their clients to not require the automated testing.

Anyone else have anything they have used, have feedback on it, or recommend
something else?

I like both nUnit and the MS Test functions in VS '05 and '08.

VSTS seems to have a lot of unit  testing ability built in.
