Sharepoint transforms the Personalization Site links to local

Asked By: Owen    Date: Aug 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1523

Hope to find someone who knows how to solve a buggering problem of ours.

Our customer requires that all top menus of the portal have links to
the all top sections of the website, including My Sites, which is why
we'e added these links via the SSP's Personalization Site links.

But Sharepoint transforms the full domain address into the local
computer name (i.e. http://ltic02).

What could be at play here?

And according to our system developer, the alternative access mapping
is all in order.

Looking forward to get your suggestions.

Alternate Access mappings translate existing links  based on the incoming
context of the HTTP: request. But for things like alerts where there
is no inherent context SharePoint will use the address  recorded in the
default zone. I suspect that your default zone address is the local
computer name and other zones are the full  domain name. Build a test
site collection that uses the FQDN as the default zone and local
computer name as an AAM. Then try your personalization  Site Links and
see if they don't hold the FQDN.
