Sharepoint Timer Service account

Asked By: Jim Cope         Date: Mar 23, 2011      Category: Sharepoint 2010      Views: 1402

I installed Sharepoint Foundation 2010, with SQL Server 2008, on Windows 2008 R2 Server. My problem is if I set the user account for the Sharepoint timer to the same user as the farm (which is in the Adminstrators group on local machine) I get the Analyer Warning that the service is running under a highly-previleged account and should be changed.

When I change the timer service to an domain account that is not in the local Administrator's group I get errors in the windows event log that that the timer service is stopping and restarting every couple of minutes.

Not sure which way is OK.
