SharePoint as a ticket system

I support around 170 users and currently we use Share Point. i wanted
to know if there was a was to use Sharepoint as a Ticket System. The users could
create a request(ticket) and I could see it work the ticket and close it.
Any suggestions or anybody using anything like this currently.

On top of that, does anyone know if there's a customer-facing piece to that?
So that public website visitors can initiate their own tickets for
sharepoint users and admins to update and monitor? As far as I can tell,
the Helpdesk Dashboard does not have that piece. Any ideas?

How to I spotlight a new Specific site I just created. I am sure this is simple

I have not installed it. my host already has it installed. Sorry, can't
help with install issues.

We actually don't use it (sorry); We are a tech support  company, so our
needs are greater than the functionality of this part.

If you're talking about the highlight feature on the SharePoint Portal Server
site directory then go there, click on Manage Sites and select the site you want
