SharePoint session state how?

  Asked By: Rocco    Date: Jul 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2111

I want to save session state in a web part (or server control) on my
SharePoint server (in our medium web farm)...

1) Do I setup each server in farm with Out Of Process
mode "SQLServer" (in machine.config)?

2) Do I enable session state with these in sharepoint's web.config ?
<add name="Session"
type="System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule" />
<pages enableSessionState="true" enableViewState="true"
enableViewStateMac="true" validateRequest="false" />

3) Do I use an alternate mechanism for saving session state to let
SharePoint handle it natively and avoid the overhead of the
normal .NET stuff listed in 1) and 2) ?

4) If session state is nasty for performance, what do people do
