SharePoint Search

Where does SharePoint store it's search catalog?

Please tell me if this is possible....

I would like to exclude all documents from a search result that have word X in
it. For example, if I don't want any of my clients to see a document with the
word "widget" in it; then any document with that word, regardless of the search
phrase used, would be exluded from the results. So, if I search for 'widget' I
get no results and if I search for 'apple' none of the documents found mention
widgets. Possible?

You can exclude search  terms by adding those terms to the noise word  file. However, if they search on Apple and the document  has the word widget in it, they will see the term widget. Search only presents results, it cannot alter the content of the documents  it has indexed.

If you are talking about SharePoint Portal Server 2003,

Then there is an entire database devoted to the search, it goes by the name of <portalname>_serv
