SharePoint Portal Server & Microsoft SharePoint Services

Can anybody please explain the differences in
Microsoft SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server

And also the connection of the Sharepoint Team Services with Sharepoint 2003

As far as I understand Sharepoint Services comes with Windows Server 2003 and
the Sharepoint Portal Server is developed on top of Sharepoint Services. To what
extent is this correct?
