SharePoint Portal Server - Out of box document type searches

Asked By: Cleveland    Date: Feb 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 829

What all types are searchable by SharePoint Portal server 2003 without installing additional iFilters.

Does any of you have a list of Filters that are available for free to download and install?

I'm looking for someone with recent experiance in searching
Wordperfect files with Sharepoint 2007. We are not currently using
Sharepoint although it looks as if we will be soon. Are we going to
have trouble with searching Wordperfect files ? [the most recent
posts I can find on the subject are from 2005]

The 2005 posting is still valid. You'll need to use the iFilters for WP8
(the file format hasn't changed).

Here's an article on WordPerfect 12 and WSS 3.0/SharePoint 2003. Not sure
about MOSS2007, but they should work.

All Office formats and of course text files. You'll need to install
IFilters for PDF and AutoCAD if you use those. Check out some
commercially available IFilters at ifiltershop.com
