Sharepoint Portal down

Asked By: Aiesha    Date: Jul 14    Category: MOSS    Views: 788

I have been working on a test server, since we will be upgrading to
Sharepoint 2007 soon over here. I backed up the databases from my
production server, and restored them to the test server to check on
my sites and all that.

I made the mistake to try to get rid of the portal on my test
servers, the one that points to the production server databases. I
was under the impression that it would just kill the portal on the
test server, but it connected to my production one.

I am trying to restore the production portal, and attach it to the
databses in the correct order, but I am getting a few error messages
saying that there are items missing.

Has anyone gone through this before or is there any advice that you
guys can send my way?

I am running Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003
Standard.

There is an option to extend the Virtual site, apparently. this got
my portal  back on line and all my sites.

I thought, that I'd share this info.
