SharePoint Migration

Asked By: Jill    Date: Jul 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 10649

I have been working on a SharePoint solution and have now had to
rename the Active Directory. The original Active Directory is like
THECOMPANY.CO.UK, it has now changed to COMPANY.CO.UK. I have managed
to get SharePoint working again and have run the SPSUserUtil commmand
appplication to sort out the USer accounts and permissions issue in
SharePoint, however I still have one problem. The main issue is that
when a user logs in to the portal with the new format credentials
COMPANY.CO.UK\Username and clicks MySite, it creates a new one instead
of going to their old one. I have found it has something to do with the
Users SID. I ahve ran a SQL script I found on the Internet with some
tweaks to fis the SID issues which It did, but still my MySites don't
work. Is there anyway of getting back the old MySite data and migrating
it to the new MySite or anyway of making the old MySite become the new
MySite if you get what I mean. Any help on this would be greatly
recieved.

I'm thinking you need to backup and restore the My Sites after the user
has created their my site - can you restore and overwrite what is there?
Perhaps not. This may be a case for PSS.............

I have been thinking along the line of Backing up the MySite and trying to somehow restore it to the new version. Not quite sure how that would work but might test it later. I had also thought about PSS as well. I was hoping there was some magic SQL statement I could run  that would make all the problems go away. I am sure there is but…I’m after a fix of any kind at the moment. I have a full test rig of the customer site so supported or not supported, makes no difference at the moment.

You may want to try a tool called Backup Elite SC at
www.webfox.ca to help  with restoring all the personal
sites, it may help make it quicker as you can do bulk
exports and imports of sites and retain users, site groups
and permissions.
