SharePoint major/minor versioning within the Word document

Asked By: Nagendra Ratnalikar         Date: Jan 06, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 346

Using WSS 3.0:

Is one able to have the SharePoint major/minor versioning number to
automatically appear within the Word document?

I did find this tip:
blogs.msdn.com/.../wss-version-number-in-the\
-word-2003-document.aspx

But is there a simpler way?
Also, I think the solution above might require end users to manually go and
update the field in Word to have the version updated.

Take a look at the following blog that uses a calculated field  to make the
Document version  available in Word.
