Sharepoint Lists WebService

Asked By: Taylor    Date: Mar 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1423

I am using Sharepoint WebService Lists in an application. When I
make a call to
GetListCollection on the Lists web service, I only receive a list
of "lists"
that live on the portal. It never returns a complete list
of "lists" from my
subsites on the portal. For example I have a site at
"http://localhost/sites/mytestsite", titled: MyTestSite. MyTestSite
has a
links list that I created called "MyTestLinkList". "MyTestLinkList"
is never
returned with a call to GetListCollection().

Is there something that needs to be set to get the functionality I
am seeking -
a complete list of available lists - even those lists that reside on
my
sub-sites on the portal.

This call  is per site  (or area), so to get the full set  of lists  you will need
to call GetListCollection for each area, sub-area, site and sub-site.

U have to loop thru all sub sites in a portal  site and get all the
lists.

The SharePoint lists  webservice works on a site  scope. Therefore you
have to point it to your test Wss site before you can get the lists.

The webservice  url should look like this :
http://localhost/sites/mytestsite/_vti_bin/lists.asmx

To change the site, you can change the url of the webservice
dynamically at runtime.
