SharePoint lists from Outlook

Asked By: Mohini    Date: Apr 12    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 832

I know that you can hook up Calendars and Contact lists from Outlook to
SharePoint.

My question is "Do you need to have Exchange in order to make that work?" or is
that set up directly from Outlook to SharePoint.

Actually it's the other way around... you can connect calendars  and
contacts from sharepoint  to Outlook.

However, once connected they are synchronous both ways, assuming that you
are using outlook  2007.

..and no, Exchange is not required for any of this.

But my question  still remains: "Do you need to have Exchange in order  to make
that work?"

No, Exchange is not involved at all. The connection is direct between
Outlook and SharePoint via web services.
