Sharepoint list and 2ndary data source in infopath

Asked By: Dora    Date: May 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1649

I have created an infopath form with a 2ndary data source from a
sharepoint list, that pre-populates by readonly section of the infopath
form. But it pulls the first items in the list. is there away to pass
an list id to the 2ndary datasource in infopath so when the form is
open it shows what ever task list id you would like to see.

You can do this 2 ways:

1) Use a proxy web service connected to the sharepoint  web services
as your data  source

2) Use a filter attached to the data source  within infopath  to
post-process the data request to only display the single item you need.

1. the link does not work,
2. do you have or know of an example of this way.

The more and more I start to learn about this, it seems that
Infopath, Sharepoint, Desginger have many limitations. You would
think that Microsoft would build it so you can filter it.

In InfoPath 2007, try this:
When you add the table that contains the data  from the other sharepoint
list, go to the table properties. Then, on the Display tab, you can
use conditional formatting to "hide" the data you don't want to display.
