SharePoint Language Pack for WSSv3

Asked By: Beth    Date: Oct 31    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1335

I have installed the SharePoint Language Pack on my
front end servers in WSSv3 in the hope that I can start creating sites
in French. Has anyone had any experience with this. Unfortunately I do
not see an option like in WSSv2 to select which language I want to
create the site in when I go to the "Create Site Collection" section.

You have to be very careful what you download and install. When you search the
Internet for SharePoint Office Server language  Pack what you normally get is the
SP1 patch for the Language pack. The other problem I've seen is downloading the
wrong Language for the Language pack. If the setup prompts weren't in French
then you got the wrong (English) language pack. You have to select  French in
the dropdown and then press the button to refresh the page prior to clicking

Here's the link to download the WSS Language pack

And here's the one for MOSS 2007

After installation and running the SharePoint Configuration wizard you will see
a dropdown just above the site  Definition selection dialogue where you can pick
the language.

Had you downloaded the wrong language  by accident or just the
Service Pack? Or was it something else?

Yes, Here's the one for the X64 version of the WSS Language Pack. If you need
the MOSS one let me know.
