Sharepoint Install after un-install

Asked By: Aditi    Date: Aug 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 808

I un-installed Sharepoint Portal Server from one of our servers here a good
while ago. Now I want to install it again but when I try I get an error
message telling me that an older version of Exchange is installed and to
upgrade to Exchange 2000 SP1. MS Exchange is not installed on the server in
question. I noticed that the data folder in Sharepoint Portal Server is left
behind after install - is this the problem and how do I get around it?

I don't have access right now, but I seem to recall a technet article on steps
to manually remove SPS if stuff was left behind. Normally, that should not

Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared and check
whether the "Web Storage System" folder is present. If its present
then delete it and then try installing SPS again.
Please refer the below link for the knowledge base article for clean
uninstall of SPS.

I managed to get sorted out.

I followed the instructions on how to manually remove sharepoint  but my
problem was that there were a number of directories that were locked and I
could not delete them.

I deleted every file in the directories I possibly could and then did the
re-install overwritting the files that were previously locked.
