SharePoint Discussion Boards

Asked By: Bob Bolton         Date: Feb 13, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 437

Just wondering your opinion on something. Groups of users in our organization want to begin to use Discussion Boards features in SharePoint.

I am pushing that they be created/housed and stored in WSS (Collaboration) sites and not at the SPS level (Portal/Intranet). (My reasoning: because it just feels right to me).

Can anyone offer pro's / con's of if Discussion Boards should be built and used in WSS vs. the discussion boards in SPS?

Technical or opinionated recommendations both welcomed..

If you are creating them in site collections and not the portal, you are basically in WSS with an extended search capability.
