sharepoint designer workflow upgrading from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint

Does anyone know if this happens?
Does anything special need to be configured, or take place in order to make any
existing MOSS 2007 workflows created with SPD 2007 survive and work after an
upgrade to 2010?
Does it make a difference in which upgrade procedure is used?
