SharePoint Designer, Linking to a file system

Asked By: Rachel    Date: Jan 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1625

I created a page with a (Data View?) webpart that links to a high-level shared
folder on a file server. The link is working, but it displays by default, large
icons for all the folders and files. I would like to change the default to show
the Windows Explorer Details list. I can manually change the icons on the
SharePoint page to see the Details list i.e., one line per subfolder or file,
with the last-modified date, file size, etc. However when I leave the page and
come back to it, all the icons are back.

My guess is that SharePoint is picking up the default from the file system,
which I know has the icons display as the default. Can anyone verify my guess,
or tell me how to get SharePoint to make the Details list the default display?

It sounds like you are using the Explorer View, which is essentially
just embedding a Windows Explorer window within IE. If so, your
assumption is correct and the display  will reflect the local user
settings. I'm not aware of any way to change  this within SharePoint.

I think we can take it from here.

There is an article that explains this, but unfortunately does nothing to
fix it.
