Sharepoint coming to a search page on some users machine

All I have one SPP and lets call it SP. When all my users except for
12 or so type in SP and hit enter it takes them to a google search
page or a msn page. Now everyone else in the company when they type in
sp into IE it come to the SPP like it should. Now for the peeople who
cant type in SP if they place in the name of the sharepoint server it
comes right up? Is this an IE setting? Anyone heard of this happening?

This sounds like you have an issue with either:

1) The proxy settings in IE are setup so that it's trying to access the SP
server on the internet
2) DNS is not setup correctly and the client can't resolve the SP host name.

Looking at my machine when I do type in SP, it redirects me to my
c:\docsandsettings\usernae\favorites\sharepoint

I am DHCP and no proxies issues. Know of anything else?
