SharePoint Collaborative site for Project managment

Asked By: Mercedes    Date: Sep 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 626

I'm putting together a Sharepoint collaborative site with no prior
experience in Sharepoint portals. Can anyone steer me to good
orientation and administrator training?

I assume from your post that you will be doing this for a PMO group or
to streamline project  management. As far as that goes, MS Project
Server 2007 sits on top of Sharepoint and is a generally powerful
tool. If you are not interested in going that far, the Sharepoint
lists can help track issues, risks, requirements, as well as do basic
doc sharing & calendaring. The latest version even has a gantt view
for task lists.

As far as admin training, I would suggest you install WSS (Windows
Sharepoint Services) on a Virtual PC/Virtual Server instance and play
with that until you feel comfortable.

feel free to contact me via email as I am neck-deep in this very subject.
