SharePoint Central Administration Backups

Asked By: Jaron    Date: Aug 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1699

I tried to do a backup (central admin) of our mysite host and this is
the error I got:

Object WSS_Content_CherokeeMySites4_12222 failed in event OnBackup. For
more information, see the error log located in the backup directory.
SqlException: Cannot open backup device 'c:\temp\spbr0001
\00000016.bak'. Operating system error 3(The system cannot find the
path specified.). BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

I first tried it logged in as myself..and my account is an admin on
both the db server and the sharepoint server. I then tried it again
logged in as the system account which has admin rights on the db server
and the sharepoint server.

am I missing something?

Don't use a local path (like c:\temp) use a UNC like the example on the page.
Different parts of the backup  will run on different machines if the machine
Central Admin is running on is not running SQL as well. Create a share. Make
sure the account  the Central Admin app pool is running as and the account SQL is
running as have read and write access to that share.

Do you happen to know the command that is used so we can write a script to
schedule this?
