Sharepoint cache

Asked By: Rey    Date: Jan 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 855

I reset both portal and non-portal index files(both of them have 0
document), but I still got search result back. Is there a cache being
involved? if so, how to flush those cache, and if not, why?

There is a job that has to run. It is configured and manually executed
from SPS 2003's Central Administration. I'll let some admin type tell
you more.

That said, unless the Search service is not  running, it has probably
already kicked off automatically by now...

If you have separate search  and index  servers (i.e. Medium farm or large farm,
the index may still be on the search server(s)

It seems to be the case. we do have a medium farm. But how to flush out those cache  other than rebooting each front end servers?

Try stopping and restarting the search  service on the front ends. Short of that Reset the index  again. It’s supposed to clear it out on the front end boxes too.

Technically you could go delete the index files on the search servers, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
