SharePoint behind an SSL appliance?

Asked By: Cedric Lucas         Date: Oct 21, 2003      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 192

Has anyone tried putting SharePoint behind an SSL appliance?

I looked at the docs I could find about "Alternate Portal Access
Mappings."
http://www.ingebrigtsen.info/_vti_bin/help/1033/sp
s/html/AboutAlternatePortalAccessMappings.htm
It is good at pointing out usefulness in manipulating portal search
results.
We are using SPS, but I'm wondering about WSS since we may not be
creating portal sites.

Does WSS ever send email that needs to have a corrected URL?
Are all the links produced by WSS relative so that
"protocol://hostname:port" will always be inherited from the initial
request?

I finally figured out what terms to search for: sharepoint  SSL
Termination

Here is the useful info I've found:

----------
Things to consider when you use SSL termination with SharePoint Portal
Server 2003 and with SharePoint Services
