Can someone please point me to a location or company that has developedapplications for SharePoint? My company wants to be able to answer thequestion "What can this product do for me besides just documentmanagement?"
How about -directory.partners.extranet.microsoft.com/....aspxpname=&spec=0&pid=89&vid=0&country=&SearchType=P
Microsoft just acquired the enterprise search company "FAST" to boost thesharepoint growth and integrate the same into CMS and other MS products in termsof 'search' space.....[money.cnn.com/.../IBD-0001-22119793.htm]Sharepoint is a billion dollar business for MS and its just not a documentsharing tool..... sharepoint now gets integrated into many MS owned ERP productslike CRM, Dynamics and other applications....Take a look at some mirosoft sites, and you can justfiy with many facts toyour company....
I personally think that Microsoft will rip out the search/index technology insharepoint and replace it with FAST. sharepoint has a fairly low treshhold ofthe amount of docs the index can handle compared to for instance archivingsystems these days hold. A few billion objects isn't really a big deal in asingle archive.FAST is an extremely cool company and I'd recommend looking at some of theproducts and research they have been doing.
I personally think that's unlikely, since the search core is shared withMSN/Live Search and I don't see that going away anytime soon
Xmlaw and handshake..................
Knowing the release cycles of MS it could very well be that they could replaceit in the next version. People should be excited about this technology though.Fasts Radar technology http://www.fastsearch.com/thesolution.aspx?m=645 isfascinating. FASTs InStream technology has been embedded in tons of softwareapplications. With all the pieces that MSFT has been buying lately they aresure on track to build something very impressive.
